About

Hi, I'm Jennifer.

I draw from a humanistic, strength-based approach that looks at the whole person, focusing on your insights, desires and uniqueness.

My approach

Meeting you where you are

I believe people are far more than the hardest thing they're going through. My work starts from your strengths, resilience, values, and relationships that already carry you, and builds from there.

I came to therapy after more than twenty-five years walking alongside people in education, higher education, and ministry, as an educator and student life administrator, a campus and parish minister, and a trained spiritual director. That work taught me how much healing happens in relationship, and how much people carry that is never said out loud.

After completing my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Dominican University of California, I moved into clinical work, including bereavement counseling with a hospice agency. Grief, and the search for meaning that so often follows loss, has been at the heart of my practice ever since. Whatever brings you here, my role is to offer a steady, nonjudgmental presence and to work at your pace.

How I work

My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. I draw on several orientations and tailor the blend to you, rather than fitting you to one method:

  • Humanistic and person-centered therapy
  • Strength-based and positive psychology
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Narrative therapy
  • Psychodynamic therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Developmental Model
  • Attachment Based Therapy
  • Family systems
  • Somatic, body-based approaches

Who I work with

I work with adults, adolescents (14 and up), couples, families, and groups. My care is LGBTQI-affirming and BIPOC-affirming, and I welcome clients of every background and belief.

Outside the office

A Bay Area native, I share life with my husband, and we've had the privilege of serving as foster parents. When I'm not in session you'll often find me near the water or out on the Bay, gathering people around a good meal, or enjoying live music.
